Skyglow
Clementine Barrow frames her entire response around the issue of preserving our darkness:
Chilbolton enjoys exceptionally dark skies for southern England, a valued resource that contributes to local character and ecology. The introduction of a large housing development with standard domestic and street lighting would irreversibly brighten the night environment, creating skyglow visible for miles. This would directly undermine the "intrinsically dark landscape" status of the area which national policy seeks to. It would also erode residents' and visitors' ability to enjoy the night sky, contrary to the environmental quality objectives of both NPPF and local planning aims.
