For the first time, Chilbolton Open Gardens featured a “Where are the Bears?” quest for younger visitors. It proved very popular with them, and their parents.

There were nine Bears hiding at seven gardens, with one at the Church. So where could they be found?

On a beautiful sunny afternoon, almost 250 people made their way to Chilbolton to enjoy the opening of eleven gardens with floral arrangements in St Mary the Less Church.

In the King’s Birthday honours today, Maureen Treadwell has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).

The honour has been given for her work in Birth Trauma Awareness.

The Board of Chilbolton Community Land Trust have agreed in principle how they will co-operate with Chilbolton Parish Council in working with potential landowners and with Test Valley Borough Council.

They discussed a model for that co-operation, and how it might develop, as options for building affordable homes become clearer.

Chilbolton Parish Council will be raising a further objection to the proposed 75-home development, citing the Science and Technology Facilities Council concerns on its impact on Chilbolton Observatory.

The new objection is based on the National Planning Policy Framework clause which protects operational defence and security sites.
