Chilbolton Parish Council are a step closer to bringing options for housing development in the Village forward to a ballot of residents.

They are investigating the engagement of consultants, and hope to meet their target of a vote taking place during the summer.

Once again though, the issue of Councillor contact with developers reared its head.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service yesterday put out a field fire that threatened the propane and oil tanks at HBS in Chilbolton.

Chilbolton Parish Council have added an extra meeting to their diary. They will hold it at the Village Hall on Monday 3 Aug 2026 at 6pm.

At James Painter’s request, the Village Webmaster has distributed a document to subscribers which compares a 20-home development at Gravel Hill unfavourably with a 25-home development at Drove Road.

The email also includes comments from Cllr David Hall, Chair of Chilbolton Parish Council, saying “villagers should be aware of some of the inaccuracies and mistaken claims in the report and adverts [Mr Painter] has commissioned.”

Councillor David Hall, Chair of Chilbolton Parish Council, had produced a summary of recent news which might affect their community housing project.

In it he reveals that Southern Planning Practice have produced a report, commissioned by James Painter, on Gravel Hill - one of the housing options reviewed by CPC.
