Too many houses

Alison Stimpson highlights the problems posed by so many new houses:
This proposal promotes the building of 75 houses on land outside the settlement boundary representing a 17% increase to the size of Chilbolton. Conversely the Neighbourhood Plan only identifies a need for a mix of an additional 20 affordable and downsize homes to meet the needs of the village. This is based on research conducted both by Chilbolton Parish Council and by a study in 2024 by TVBC. There is no public transport and very limited job opportunity to offer in Chilbolton . New inhabitants would be obliged to travel everywhere by car and an estimated 600 additional vehicle journeys daily along this street would change the character of the village immeasurably. It is a very poorly suited location for large scale development to meet general housing targets.
