Footpath as a precursor

Cllr Debbie Collis identifies the reason behind the new footpath:
The proposed footpath from the development only serves to bisect the lower field identified as available for development within SHELAA 389, rendering the field unsuitable for agricultural use and more likely to be developed. It is transparently the precursor to development of a vehicular access to the site. The footpath is not required as the extant [Public Right of Way] can be used. Current residents of Chilbolton are unlikely to want to use the new footpath; it will only serve the new estate and pedestrian access to the centre of the village will become more dangerous due to the increase in traffic on the extant road network
