Good land
As the old year draws to a close, an anonymous resident points up the potential loss of viable agricultural land:
The proposed site is green field farmland and falls outside of the settlement boundary of Chilbolton. The report notes the limited use of the land as a reason for wishing to have permission to build. However, the landowner has had horses in the fields and people wishing to use the fields for sheep grazing too. There is water available and shading in the fields as well as appropriate stock fencing. The suggestion of the lack of usage is disingenuous. He has stated to residents and potential renters he was going to put young cows/ heifers in the fields and on other occasions has stated would put pigs on the land. Fields have been used for the cultivation of daffodil bulbs. Growing sweet corn and barley as well as short grain wheat in the 20 plus years I have lived in the Village
