Demographic imbalance

Andrew Kent supports the development, and highlights the need to change the mix of people in the Village:
Over time Chilbolton has attracted a disproportionate number of older, affluent people. The need to rebalance Community demographics was evident when developing the Chilbolton Neighbourhood Plan (approved by Village referendum); with Chilbolton Parish Council (CPC) mandated to bring forward about 20 new homes by 2030 - comprising about 10 Affordable homes for people with local connections and 10 small downsize homes for occupiers of large Village houses (releasing them for larger families). At that time there were c. 10 registered local applicants for Affordable homes, but the number has increased. There is also hearsay demand for smaller relatively less costly homes to enable young families to get a foot on the open-market housing ladder. The CPC need to urgently understand the extent of current demand in all these sectors. Gradually increasing the village population, particularly with more children, will help the future viability of the Village Shop and support the local School (currently having to take pupils from Andover)
