News: Parish Council changes meeting agenda

Chilbolton Parish Council has changed the agenda for this evening’s meeting (5 Jan 2026). The Responsible Financial Officer, Cllr David Hall, is recovering from injuries sustained over the holiday period and is unable to present budgetary and financial matters.

As a result, tonight’s meeting at 6pm in the Village Hall will agree CPC’s response to the 75-home planning application, review new planning applications and discuss the process by which a new Parish Councillor will be co-opted. All other business will be deferred to a meeting on Monday 12 Jan 2026 at 6pm in the Village Hall.

A new agenda will be posted on the Parish Council’s website shortly.

The co-option of a new Parish Councillor follows the resignation of Cllr Julian Hudson. CPC has been informed that Test Valley Borough Council has not received a request for an election. Any residents interested in becoming a Parish Councillor should request an application form from the Clerk before 31 Jan 2026.

The full Parish Council announcement says:

At the Extraordinary Meeting of Chilbolton Parish Council held on Saturday 3rd January, the response to Planning Application 25/02680/OUTN was approved in principle subject to proposed additions and amendments. These have now been made and the final draft will be presented to CPC for approval on Monday 5th January. This meeting will also consider other Planning Applications for Chilbolton currently lodged with Test Valley Borough Council.

The Council has agreed to postpone the full Council meeting scheduled for Monday 5th January to Monday 12th January (6pm) and revised agendas for both meetings will shortly be published on noticeboards and the website. The reason for the postponement is the unavailability of Cllr David Hall following delays to surgery on a broken ankle he sustained on Boxing Day. Cllr Hall, as Responsible Financial Officer, is due to present the CPC budget for 2026/7 for approval as well as update on the Community Development Committee discussions with landowners and other key items.

Following the Notice of Vacancy issued following the resignation of Cllr Julian Hudson, TVBC have confirmed that they have not received a request for an election to be held. Consequently, the Parish Council will confirm the process by which a new councillor will be co-opted. Any resident wishing to be considered for this vacancy should request an application form from the Clerk (clerk@chilboltonparish.gov.uk) before the application closure deadline of 31st January 2026
