News: Future energy landscapes workshop

A workshop is being held at Chilbolton Village Hall on 26 Feb 2026 at 7pm to understand how much energy is used in the Village and local areas, and how carbon emissions and energy bills might be reduced.

Announced by Alisdair Campbell at the infrastructure meeting in January, it is funded by South Downs National Park and will be presented by Energise South Downs, which is a non-profit community energy organisation.

In their announcement of the workshop, ESD say:

A group of Chilbolton residents keenly interested in local climate action are delighted to be hosting a Future Energy Landscapes Workshop with Energise South Downs to explore “How might Chilbolton power its community using locally generated renewable energy?”

The aim is to discuss “the types and scale of renewable energy that could meet the needs of local people”. Set at parish level, and drawing on local knowledge, the organisers say that it will help to “learn together about different renewable energy technologies and discuss how acceptable they are in the local landscape of Chilbolton and what difference they can make to meet our energy needs.”

Residents of Wherwell are also invited. To book a free place go to this page at ESD’s website.
