Breaking Candidates announced for HCC Election

Candidates have been announced for the Test Valley Central Division of Hampshire County Council, which includes Chilbolton.

Cllr David Drew, Conservative, has represented this Division since 2021.

The election will take place on 7 May 2026. Most electors in Chilbolton will have already received their poll cards. If you aren’t already on the electoral register, the deadline for registering to vote is Monday 20 April 2026. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm Tuesday 21 April 2026.

2021 Election

Cllr David Drew was elected in 2021 with a majority of 2,035 over the Liberal Democrat candidate, who was David Hall, now Chair of Chilbolton Parish Council.

The turnout was 5,855 or 41.5% of electors.

Overall, in Hampshire’s 2021 election, Conservatives took 56 of the 78 seats, with the Liberal Democrats taking 17, and Labour with 3 seats.

Test Valley Central Division

There are 76 County Council divisions within Hampshire, and all are up for election on 7 May 2026. There are seven divisions within Test Valley, each with one Councillor to be elected. Chilbolton is in Test Valley Central Division.

Centred on Stockbridge, the Test Valley Central Division covers Lopcombe in the West to Lower Bullington in the East, and Upper Clatford in the North to Mottisfont in the South.

Photo ID

As with the by-election last year, voters must provide photo identification in order to vote. UK Driving licences and passports are both valid ID types. The Government provides a full list of valid IDs.

If you don’t have a valid photo ID, you can apply online - you will need a digital photo of yourself and your National Insurance number.
