You may have heard about planned housing development in our village recently. You may have see posters or had leaflets put in your letterbox.
We have a quick guide to what has been going on in our village recently:
- In December at a village meeting Chilbolton Parish Council announced plans for 150 new homes to be built
- At the end of January, three Council members approved a planning pre-application and it was sent to Test Valley Borough Council
- In February, the Parish Council sensationally announced that the pre-app would be “paused” because it “was not a public document”
- At the March Parish Council, in a tense meeting, councillors agreed that the pre-application would be re-written
- At the April Parish Council, councillors approved a pre-application for 25 homes
- In May Chilbolton Community Land Trust held its inaugural Annual General Meeting - it will be responsible for the development of 10 affordable homes. Parish councillors agreed terms of reference for a new Community Development committee - it will be responsible for wider issues such as infrastructure and specifically for 10 downsize homes. Councillors co-opted nine volunteer residents from the village to the new Committee.
chilbolton.news will continue to report on this issue, and others, to explain what this means for Chilbolton.
