News: Southern Water closes road in Chilbolton
Seeing that Southern Water had closed a small section of road near Stocks Green, concerned that this might herald further problems with sewerage, chilbolton.news went to investigate.
One part of the Stocks Green triangle was closed
A large tanker was there, but it was not pumping from the sewers. In fact it was connected to the water main.
A tanker full of fresh water
Curious, we went and spoke to the driver - a charming and informative young man who hails from East Sussex. He explained that repairs were being done to the fresh water system in Wherwell. While the repairs were underway, his tanker and two others were pumping into the system to maintain water pressure both in Chilbolton and in Wherwell.
Larger than a simple stop-cock
We spoke to him at quarter to six in the evening. He said, reassuringly, that the repair was close to being completed and that the small section of road should be open soon.
