The new sub-committee of Chilbolton Parish Council tasked with bringing forward plans to build 10 “downsize” homes held its inaugural meeting last night. Community Development Committee elected its officers, reviewed its terms of reference and appointed working parties.

At an Extraordinary Council meeting on Wednesday, Test Valley Borough councillors approved a draft consultation plan that lists 65 new homes to be built in Chilbolton. The plan says “A community led housing allocation of approximately 65 dwellings is proposed at land to the north east of Drove Road, Chilbolton.”

Chilbolton held its 2025 Village Fete in aid of the Church of St Mary the Less, at the Manor, courtesy of James and Janie Painter. Attractions included a Beer and Pimms Tent, a barbecue and the ever-popular Dog Show.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves has announced a 56% increase in funding for affordable housing. This provides a huge boost for the government’s plans to build 1.5 million homes.

The agenda for Cllr Julian Hudson’s first full meeting as Chair was light compared to some recent meetings. He certainly couldn’t have expected that the meeting would end with the horror of the house that was eaten by cows.
