Reports on Chilbolton Parish Council meetings from January 2025 onwards.

The last Parish council meeting alarmed several of those who attended. The “ambush” proposal to change the CDC’s terms of reference and the question of whether the SWG had evaluated Gravel Hill as a potential housing site both generated heated discussion.

The space of a few days to reflect on what happened has raised the question of how the meeting was conducted. Did the discussion and vote which resulted in Cllr David Hall resigning as Chair of CDC take place in accordance with the Parish Council’s newly adopted Code of Conduct?

The illusion that Chilbolton had successfully established a Community Development Committee, that would oversee the planning and building of new homes in the village, was blown apart yesterday evening at the Parish Council meeting.

After the terms of reference for CDC were materially changed in a split Parish Council vote, Cllr David Hall said that he would have to resign as CDC’s Chair.

The agenda for Cllr Julian Hudson’s first full meeting as Chair was light compared to some recent meetings. He certainly couldn’t have expected that the meeting would end with the horror of the house that was eaten by cows.

This month, Chilbolton Parish Council are proposing to adopt a new policy on “Vexatious Complaints”. What does this policy cover and how will it affect people considering a complaint to CPC?

In an announcement at Chilbolton’s Annual Parish meeting, Cllr Tony Ewer said that he would be stepping aside as Chair due to “too many health problems”.
