At the hastily rearranged “informal” meeting last Saturday, we were told that at the Parish Council next Monday “governance” was going to be discussed. Parish councillors and members of the SWG all “have concerns about the governance of CPC” according to Cllr David Hall.

From the moment Chilbolton Parish Council’s plans leaked they have been on the back foot.

At the first of the Parish Council’s “informal” meetings, Martin Gossling outlined plans for a charitable community land trust which would own the planned 10 affordable homes. Villagers though, were keener on knowing what was inside the planning pre-application that had been sent to Test Valley Borough Council.

In a surprise move, Chilbolton Parish Council (CPC) hijacked their own public meeting to announce that they had “paused” the planning pre-application they had lodged with Test Valley Borough Council (TVBC). It would be resubmitted with “modified” documents that would be publicly available.

In a follow-up to the village meeting on 5 December the Parish Council’s Strategy Working Group have published a response to questions asked by residents. In it they reveal that the “current estimate” of the expected size of the whole development “is between 90-120 homes, depending on the precise layout”.
