At a well-attended Planning Committee meeting last night, Councillors and residents together agreed to confirm 25 homes in TVBC’s draft Local Plan. However they decided not to automatically accept a further 40 homes, because there was as yet no proven housing need.

Test Valley Borough Council planners have told Chilbolton Parish Council that they would not support a planning application for the 25-home development described in the pre-application that CPC made in April 2025.

Fans of high drama would have been disappointed at last night’s Community Development Committee Meeting. What promised to be a flashpoint - redrafting their terms of reference - turned into a commitment to common cause.

A cleverly drafted agenda first had committee members reporting on significant progress. Then it came to agreeing the TOR. There were minor amendments, followed by a unanimous vote to send it to the Parish Council for approval.

At a well-attended and well-run meeting, Chilbolton Parish Council’s Planning Committee began the process of preparing their response to Test Valley Borough Council’s draft plan consultation. The plan allocates 65 homes to be built in Chilbolton.

At a meeting this Wednesday, the Community Development Committee will discuss, and potentially agree, terms of reference for the CDC that challenge those agreed by Chilbolton Parish Council only two weeks ago.
