Parish Council changes meeting agenda

Chilbolton Parish Council has changed the agenda for this evening’s meeting (5 Jan 2026). The Responsible Financial Officer, Cllr David Hall, is recovering from injuries sustained over the holiday period and is unable to present budgetary and financial matters.

As a result, tonight’s meeting at 6pm in the Village Hall will agree CPC’s response to the 75-home planning application, review new planning applications and discuss the process by which a new Parish Councillor will be co-opted. All other business will be deferred to a meeting on Monday 12 Jan 2026 at 6pm in the Village Hall.

Parish Council agrees amendments to 75-home development response

At a briskly-run meeting today, Chilbolton Parish Council agreed amendments to their draft response to James Painter’s proposed 75-home development. As an Extraordinary Meeting of CPC, this was a “meeting held in public”, rather than a “public meeting”, nonetheless villagers were invited to have their say, after Councillors had made their decisions.

Reminder: Extraordinary Meeting

We’ve been alerted to the possibility that some residents may not know about the Parish Council’s Extraordinary Meeting on Saturday. It’s at 10am in the Village Hall, and the main item on the agenda is for the Parish Council to agree their response to James Painter’s 75-home planning application.

Chilbolton Parish Council has scheduled an Extraordinary Meeting on Saturday 3 Jan 2026 at 10am in the Village Hall. This will be a formal Parish Council meeting whose main business is to agree the CPC response to the proposed 75-home development.

Observatory lodges objection to 75-home development

The Science and Technology Facility Council’s Chilbolton Observatory has lodged an objection to the planned 75-home development. It says that “As drawn, the proposals do give the Observatory operators serious concerns and represent a threat to the ongoing viability of the site.”
