News: Chilbolton resident receives MBE
In the King’s Birthday honours today, Maureen Treadwell has been made a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE).
The honour has been given for her work in Birth Trauma Awareness.
She is a co-founder, and Treasurer of the Birth Trauma Association. The charity is focused on reducing maternal and neonatal morbidity. Maureen has undertaken research, communications, and lobbying activity for the cause.
In the course of doing so, she has been interviewed on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme, News at Ten, Sky News, and Channel 4 documentaries.
She said “While I am humbled by this honour, it really recognises a collective effort by dedicated volunteers, families, health-care professionals and journalists who, over decades, have worked to improve the safety of maternity and neonatal care.”
She has lived in Chilbolton, with her husband Ed, for over forty years. She is a Board member, and Treasurer of Chilbolton Community Land Trust.
