News: Another chance to become a Parish Councillor

With the resignation of Cllr David Griffiths, the Parish Council has advertised a vacancy. Could that be you?

Notices have gone up on Parish Council noticeboards saying that if ten registered electors in Chilbolton write to the returning officer by 28 May 2026 requesting a by-election then one will be held.

If no election is requested, then the Parish Council will “co-opt a person to fill the vacancy as soon as possible”. They will issue a notice inviting applicants for co-option.

A new Councillor should have skills to bring to the Council, be able to work well with Councillors and residents, and be willing to take on projects.

Most Council meetings are held in the evening, so being available then is important.
