Chilbolton Parish Council has set the dates for three public meetings to discuss James Painter’s outline planning proposal for 75 homes in the Village.

The first meeting will be held at 10am on Saturday 22 November in the Village Hall.

Leaflets advertising the meetings will be circulated to all homes in Chilbolton.

Battle lines were drawn yesterday evening as Chilbolton Parish Council prepared a plan for responding to James Painter’s planning application for a 75-home development.

Nicky Bond, who runs the Village Shop, says that they have restricted access today. They will set up at the front of the Shop for everyday essentials, newspapers and prescriptions and whatever else they can access.

They will be available from 08:30 onwards, into the afternoon.

In a surprise move this evening, Parish Councillors have issued a new agenda for their Extraordinary Meeting on Monday. They will discuss the approach for responding to the new 75-home planning application.

Sensationally, Cllr Tony Ewer will be required to recuse himself from that discussion.

The public will no longer be excluded, and the meeting includes an item for public questions and comments.

Following the terrifying raid on the Village Shop during the early hours of Saturday 15 Nov 2025, Nicky Bond has put in place temporary arrangements for prescriptions and newspapers, tomorrow Sunday 16 Nov 2025.
